Coretta Waters founded Diamonds On Target Foundation from a profound and personal understanding of abuse, an experience spanning from childhood mistreatment, often dismissed as mere “scolding” in her culture, to enduring violent, traumatic, and emotionally abusive adult relationships. Recognizing a significant gap in societal understanding of what abuse truly encompasses and the profound impact it has, the foundation aims to empower women by providing crucial resources. Diamonds and Target offers a multi-faceted approach, including highly regarded counseling services (both group and discounted individual sessions), vital legal assistance and advice, and self-defense courses covering gun safety and personal protection. The foundation also supports families through back-to-school drives for children affected by domestic issues, a monthly “self-esteem month” offering complimentary hair styling, and accepts donations of clothing, finances, and even cars and temporary housing to help women rebuild their lives.
